A friend told me about this, I haven’t tried it myself but I can definitely see endless possibilities with this feature.

Harris Teeter, a high end grocery store on the East Coast, has a service called Express Lane that allows you to shop online, use your Harris Teeter VIC card, take advantage of their in-store specials,  use your coupons, and reserve a time for pickup anytime between 11 a.m and 7 p.m . You must allow at least 4 hours for your order to be processed but you can also order as many as 6 days in advance.  Payment is either debit/credit or check at the time of pickup. Clerks are equipped with mobile credit card scanners.

Here’s the best part………..you never have to get out of your car for anything. They’re waiting for you. They put your groceries in your car for you. They come to you to complete the payment. And then you drive away having accomplished a 5 minute trip to the grocery store!!! Yippeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Harris Teeter’s prices are higher than most, however if you choose to shop their store brand and  specials, and use your coupons, it’s not a bad deal for the convenience of having someone else do your grocery shopping for you.  Plus you’re not falling victim to the dreaded “impulse buy”, what we all succumb to as we’re walking the aisle’s and think “ooo, that looks good, I’ll try that!”. Or if you’re shopping hungry like so many mothers do that haven’t had a chance to eat a real meal all day.

Try it out at least once and see if it works for your lifestyle and budget. If you don’t have a Harris Teeter near you see if your own local grocery store has a similar option available.
